PortosRio held a meeting with representatives of national and multinational companies that showed interest in the Public Call aimed at implementing energy transition projects in the Port of Itaguaí.
The meeting took place in the auditorium of Porto do Rio de Janeiro and also included the participation of members of science and technology institutes.
The central discussion of the meeting focused on the possible routes and viability of establishing green hydrogen factories in the Port of Itaguaí, with the aim of transforming the region into a cluster, attracting industrial units focused on the production of green methanol, green ammonia and hydrogen.
The Director of Business and Sustainability of PortosRio, Eduardo Marinho , opened the meeting by highlighting the importance of the project for the Port Authority. He highlighted the company's commitment to providing full support to this strategic project for both the company and the State of Rio de Janeiro. The director of Port Management of PortosRio, Ronaldo Fucci , was also present at the meeting , reinforcing the relevance of the project.
Eduardo Miguez, Business Development Manager of PortosRio , presented the reasons and results of the public call, in addition to discussing the competitive advantages of the Port of Itaguaí for the implementation of energy transition projects. He highlighted that the PortosRio initiative aims to contribute in the short term to the decarbonization of the industry.
“The objective is to expedite prospecting and coordination with interested parties, encouraging the completion of studies that prove the viability of each productive route and encouraging the execution of projects in reduced deadlines. Miguez also highlighted the availability of land for the installation of several industrial plants and an adequate logistics network to serve the internal and external market,” said Miguez.
In this instance, Marcelo Fiche, president of the Brazilian Network of Certification, Research and Innovation (Rbcip) , presented the viable routes for the production of green hydrogen in the Port of Itaguaí.
