The government of Rondônia held the 90th Ordinary Meeting of the Development Council of the State of Rondônia (Conder) on Monday (24), at the Palácio Rio Madeira (PRM), in Porto Velho. The meeting brought together authorities, businesspeople and representatives of the productive sector to discuss strategic initiatives aimed at generating jobs, tax incentives and developing sustainable tourism, with emphasis on strengthening sport fishing as an economic vector.

At the opening, the head of the State Secretariat for Economic Development (Sedec), Sérgio Gonçalves, highlighted the importance of creating a favorable environment for business, reinforcing the confidence of the productive sector in the state's public policies. " When someone decides to undertake, it is because they had a dream and a vision for the future. The government of Rondônia has worked to strengthen this confidence, promoting structural works via land, air, and sea, and narrowing the border with neighboring countries to promote tourism in Rondônia," he stated.

For the governor of Rondônia, Marcos Rocha, the initiative positions the state on the national and international sports fishing scene, promoting the experience of tourists through images, videos and local products. "With the advancement of structural projects and incentives for tourism and industry, the government reaffirms its commitment to transforming the state into a national reference in quality of life and economic prosperity", he highlighted.

STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS

During the meeting, the Sport Fishing Tourism development plan, decided at Conder in 2024, was presented. The study, conducted by the Brazilian Certification, Innovation and Research Network (RBCIP), covered 7 municipalities to identify potential and propose an action plan that values Rondônia's rivers, boosting the regional economy.

The project coordinator, Nilde Brun, explained that “the goal is to promote quality tourism that values our biodiversity and family farming products, such as cheeses, flours, sweets and handicrafts. For all this to work, a partnership between municipalities, the state government and the private sector is essential.”

The project is now entering the implementation phase of the action plan, articulating public and private partnerships to expand tourism infrastructure and train professionals in the sector. In addition to sport fishing, the proposal seeks to explore other natural attractions, ensuring the sustainability and economic growth of the region.

JOB CREATION

Another highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the glass production company, a family business in its third generation, which reaffirmed its confidence in Rondônia by increasing its R$40 million investment in modernization, boosting job creation. The support of the Rondônia government strengthens the policy of encouraging the industrial sector, promoting job creation and the expansion of the local economy.

In addition, tax incentives were approved for new industries in the state, with a fixed investment volume of R$17,476,976.37 million and an expected 52 new direct jobs. The initiative reinforces the Rondônia government's commitment to creating a safe and attractive environment for investors, consolidating the state as a promising hub for industrial growth.

Fecomércio President Gilberto Batista emphasized the importance of creating a favorable environment for business. “We are always seeking the best conditions for companies to grow and create jobs. The role of the Secretariat of Economic Development has been fundamental in attracting new investments and strengthening the state economy.”

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The 90th Conder meeting marked the beginning of a promising stage for the development of Rondônia, consolidating strategic actions that guarantee sustainable growth, job creation and new business opportunities.
